The future of our descendants depends upon us finding a way to live with the Earth again and not just live off her. The answer quite possibly lies in our ability to bring forward how we used to live with Her – bringing what was good and positive from the ancient past, not necessarily replicating that, and integrating that with what’s good and possible now. Reconnecting with Mother Earth and her people is not such a hard thing to do – we only need to step back in time to see how it was done. The stories of how our ancestors lived is written in the landscape. They didn’t see Mother Earth and the creatures that lived on her as separate from themselves. The spirit/uality of the old ones was drawn from what was around them and how they connected with that. Separateness was not part of their world. The cycles of their lives, Mother Earth, the Moon and the Sun were all mirrors and confirmation of oneness. Country folk to this day have marked their connection and understanding of Mother Earth by celebrating the turning “wheel of the year”. Recognising these festivals is one way to realign ourselves with the Earth and her cycles. Ritual also takes its place and is a way of honouring our connection and reverence to all that is sacred. Stories from our ancestors also hold vital parts of understanding our presence and the part we play in the life of Mother Earth. These gatherings will bring you to a warm welcome and sharing with others who hold dear the love of our Earth. They are open to anyone but please remember that, as with any event here at Gaea, you do need to book in advance. |
