Donna Forbes
Donna is a Druid Priest and leader of the Earthshine Grove that meets locally at Coombe Hill.
Donna's path has taken her through many turns in search of spiritual development. Being bought up with a Christian mother, an Occultist father, and a psychic grandmother, she was aware of the spiritual side of life even if she did not wholly embrace it herself.
Events lead her to leave the church, where she had been studying to become a lay-preacher. She turned, instead, to Humanism, looking to philosophy to understand mankind and to use toleration and acceptance as a way forward.
But the spirit world called her back and, after experiencing what she would later call the 'Awen', she came to know the wonder of Gaea. Our Goddess, our Mother, our Planet.
This realisation led her to discover Druidry. The Druids were the ancient wise ones of these Isles and the truth of their teachings and understanding of life on this planet is now being rediscovered. It is much needed for mankind is forgetting how to live 'with' the Earth choosing instead to live 'on' her. This passion led her to become part of the Transition Towns movement and to work towards making her home town of Chesham a Plastic Bag Free town.
